Background:

George Institute for Global Health, China is a leading research organisation
conducting high-impact, large-scale research that is focused on addressing
chronic disease and injury prevention in China. The George Institute for Global
Health was established in 1999 by a group if researchers at the University of
Sydney, Australia, who were inspired to bring together leading researchers in
chronic disease and injury to produce high-impact research. The George

Location:
Beijing, China
This position offers ample opportunities to
contribute and grow academically while working with both national and
international leading experts in the field as well as opportunities to travel
abroad to attend international conferences or for short-term training and
exchange purposes.
Key Accountabilities:
- Generate new research projects
- Develop and fine-tune research protocols and provide guidance
for project implementation from beginning to end independently or under
supervision of other investigators
- Summarize, present, and publish research findings in
peer-reviewed high-impact international and national outlets independently
or in a team
- Effectively manage time, budget, files, and team as necessary
- Lead and participate in institutional capacity building
activities such as academic seminars, roundtables, journal clubs etc.
- Contribute to the organization of important institutional
events and activities such as media conferences, conference calls etc.
- Mentor junior research fellows and research assistants and
contribute to institutional development in significant ways
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Doctoral degree in public health, medicine, economics, or
related discipline
- 5+ years of research experience in chronic disease or relevant
areas post the degree granted. Fewer (3 or 4) years is acceptable if the
candidate shows strong research capabilities
- Clinical expertise in management of hypertension, heart
disease, stroke, or diabetes and overseas background are preferred but not
required
- Competent in conducting high-quality research independently or
in a team
- Having the potential to generate external research funding
- Excellent written and verbal English and Chinese communication
skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in
a team and with a wide range of professionals
- Fast learner, hard worker, and ability to overcome obstacles
and to adapt to changing environments
- Strong sense of worth ethics, responsibility, integrity, and
passionate about public health advancement
